Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My desk jet printer 2052e has stopped working. I’ve used the HP Smart app to no avail. Apparently this printer doesn’t work with high speed internet; however, it has worked fine in the past. Any suggestions?

Hi @petdon

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s go step by step to get your DeskJet 2052e printing again. Since you’ve already tried the HP App without success, here are some structured checks you can perform:

1. Power and Hardware Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors) and reconnect to the printer.
  • Power it back on.

2. Network Connection

  • Make sure the printer is within 1–2 meters of the router during setup.
  • Restart your router and printer.
  • On the printer’s control panel, run Wireless Setup again to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure you are connecting to the 2.4 GHz band, as many printers do not reliably connect to 5 GHz networks.

3. Device and App Check

  • On your Windows or macOS computer, open the HP App and remove the printer if it is listed.
  • Re-add the printer by searching for available devices.
  • If the printer is not detected, connect it via USB temporarily to establish communication, then switch back to wireless.

4. Print Queue and Drivers

  • On Windows: Open “Devices and Printers,” right-click your printer, and select “See what’s printing.” Cancel all pending jobs.
  • On macOS: Go to “System Preferences” > “Printers & Scanners,” select your printer, and clear the queue.
  • Ensure the printer driver is installed correctly. If needed, reinstall the printer through the HP App.

5. Firmware Update

  • From the HP App, check if a firmware update is available for the printer and apply it.

6. Test Print

  • Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to confirm hardware functionality.
  • Then try printing from your computer again.

If the printer still fails after these steps, try connecting via USB to confirm whether the issue is network-related. This helps isolate whether the wireless setup is the root cause.
