Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello to all,

This has me crawling the wall...

I am on xfinity and just switched out the router to the new xb7 and our HP 3050a which we had in our wireless network has gone off line.  I have a couple of apple tablets and iphones that I was able to get on line without issue.

I have done the WPS set up and it"connects ' to a 169.254.XXX.XX ip addres. When I do a print out it shows "connected"  When I download the file from HP to install the printer it returns verbiage saying that this is not a good ip address and after trying to wait and get a good one it can not get the router /modem to give one.  The "wireless" light is solid blue.  Status panel shows "on line" and connected, however trying to print from any device returns an "off line" result.

I have tried all I know and even switched out the xb7 for a new one.

Still no answer,

I appreciate all assistance and Thank you in advance.

@cvbs, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Yes, the IP address is invalid. It should not start from 169. Let us try these steps:

Restart the wireless router and the printer

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC/mobile devices are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Check if printer software is installed on the PC.

If not, click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@cvbs

I have received your private message. Were you able to run the wireless setup wizard on the printer?

Did it detect the network?

If you are still not able to connect the printer, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region for assistance in connecting the printer to the network.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
