New Laser Jet Pro 4001dw here. Set up using HP Envy Laptop. I can print via USB cable using the HP LaserJet Pro 4001 4002 4003 4004 PCL-6 (V4) printer profile. If I try to print wireless using the HP ePrint + JetAdvantage printer profile everything seems to work in the dialogue box but once I highlight the printer and tell it to print I get Printer Validation Failed.
My wife can print wirelessly from her iPad.
Following other troubleshooting I have deleted the printer and drivers and reinstalled everything at least 3x. One thing no one mentions is during the software install do I need to select HP Cloud or is Basic enough? I have been an HP fan for years but I am hating this printer setup so much right now. Wasted three hours of a Saturday afternoon on this thing. I am ready to box it back up and send back - so angry at this software that provides many install options but no help in choosing which way to go.
I've tried all kinds of supposed fixes on this forum and nothing has worked so far. Any help appreciated.
UPDATE - after going back in to print test docs for 10th time, I saw a new print option show up called HP LaserJet Pro 4001 4002 4003 4004 PCL-6 (V4) (Network) and if I select that "printer" it prints wirelessly.
So, my problem solved! This print software is confusing. It has installed three different "printers" for the one printer. 1)HP LaserJet Pro 4001 4002 4003 4004 PCL-6 (V4) (Network) 2) HP ePrint + JetAdvantage and 3) HP LaserJet Pro 4001 4002 4003 4004 PCL-6 (V4) No where during installation is any of this explained. No where in all the documentation did I see something show me or tell me to expect this. Now I understand the reviews on Amazon complaining about the setup. I am fairly competent around a PC and this took a lot of fiddling to make it work. And, I still don't know why the third fix (HP LaserJet Pro 4001 4002 4003 4004 PCL-6 (V4) installed itself. HP really needs to improve this installation experience and the documentation. Wow - what a hot mess.
