Hi @lorey56,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with connecting your Printer to the network.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) Now please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again.

1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

HI @Irvin6,

My experience is totally different from what you say regarding the way to print to a HP Officejet 7410 printer using HP Smart. Here it is: HP officejet 7410 printer is not or very poorly supported by HP Smart: you can only print with an Android mobile but you can't do anything from a Windows 10 computer. This printer is not even listed in the compliant printer list provided by HP!

Can you please explain what is the purpose of the bluetooth thing in your solution? I can't see why it would be needed for printing to a Wi-Fi wireless printer: the device and the printer just need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Furthermore there is no any setting related to Bluetooth configuration / pairing in the HP Smart app for Android and Windows 10 apps. Just to add that my 20 years old Officejet 7410 printer is just printing fine with the Microsoft driver and it is just scanning fine thanks to the VueScan app, all of this over a Wi-Fi network.

I can understand that HP chooses to just make "smart" utilities just for money and only recent printers. But HP can't say its old printers  can't be supported: it's just a business choice! And no need to have all the hardware mess you mention to have a working HP Officejet printer just printing fine with software that are in my humble opinion far better that the HP "Smart" utility. VueScan costed my about 50 euros for 4 computers and it can do far more and far better for scanning that the HP AIO scan utility could in in Windows 7, 8 and 10 when it was working and supported in the early versions of Windows 10.

I hope not to be perceived rude with such an answer but as a HP customer I am really fed up with all these useless hardware procedures that do take a lot of time but do not work for simple printing and scanning purposes with working printers. Mine works great with a Microsoft printer driver and the VueScan app over Wi-Fi while HP chose not to support it anymore. That's it!

Kind regards
