macOS 12.0 Monterey

Our 8025 printer is balky when wireless printing.  Sometimes it works fine; other times stalls out and we have to either fiddle with the dialog box available from the computer System Preferences screen, toggling the print/pause buttons.  Or we have to unplug the printer to get it to reset properly.  We have latest soft/firm ware, and all setup settings seem correct.  Any suggestions?  Or is this just a weak printer that needs to be replaced?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

I don't have any MacOS in the home office.

I can offer some ideas and places to check / adjust.

There is a lot of information in the  User Guide - perhaps worth a review.

========================================

If the printer supports 5GHz wireless,

The printer might not support open / same time connections to 2.4GHz / 5GHz.

If your router supports it,

Create a separate SSID named network for each frequency

Connect the printer to the frequency / band you want it to use.

In general,

  • 2.4GHz is less fussy about obstacles and supports a longer distance between router and device (printer)
  • 5GHz is faster

Example - Dual Band Network

Lifewire - 802.11 Standards Explained: 802.11ax, 802.11ac, 802.11b/g/n, 802.11a

802.11      Frequency

   Standard    Band

   11a         5 GHz

   11b         2.4 GHz

   11g         2.4 GHz

   11n         2.4 GHz and 5 GHz

   11ac        5 GHz

Dragon-Fur - thanks for the very complete and comprehensive reply to my quandry.  It will take me a bit to get through and apply the technical details, so I can't comment on how well I got this to work.  But I will get there!  Many thanks for taking the time to help me out.  Best, CrewSandy
