Following firmware update, my hp ink cartridges were not recognized. Tried the usual. Reboot, long reboot, restore to factory. Following restore , sent to download driver, but can’t connect to wireless router. Router “sees” printer. Phone snoop “”sees” Bluetooth. Printer “sees” phone, but does not interact. No home page. How do I load functioning firmware?

Hi @Mkeamy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this must feel, especially after a firmware update disconnects your printer from wireless, blocks cartridge recognition, and leaves you without a homepage or setup access. Let's get your OfficeJet Pro 9015e back on track.

Step 1: Reconnect to a Network

Why this matters: A working internet connection is essential to restore firmware and activate features like HP+ and ink detection.

Option A: Ethernet Cable

Connect a Cat5/Cat6 cable from the printer to your router, then power-cycle the printer:

  1. Disconnect power for 60 seconds.
  2. Reconnect power and Ethernet.
  3. The printer should regain internet connectivity.

Option B: Restore Wireless Settings

On the printer control panel:

  1. Go to Setup (gear icon) → Network Settings → Restore Network Settings.
  2. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard under Network to reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Re-apply Firmware Properly

Once the printer is online:

  1. Go to your computer and visit HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer | HP® Support👉 Download the latest firmware using HP Printer Update Utility
  2. Run the utility and follow prompts to reinstall or update firmware.
  3. Important: Do not power off the printer during this process.

Step 3: Resolve Cartridge Recognition Error

After the firmware is restored:

  1. Power cycle the printer (unplug for 60 seconds, then reconnect).
  2. Remove all cartridges, gently clean the gold contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water, and dry.
  3. Reinstall them firmly and check for errors.
  4. Ensure you're using genuine HP cartridges, as firmware updates may block counterfeit or refilled ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
