Actually on Mac OS Sonoma and IOS 17 on my iPhone and iPad
my 9125e keeps loosing WiFi connection. The router is a room away and other devices don’t loose connection. I’ve reset it multiple times and it never works. When I reset it it will print. But if I don’t print again, within an hour or less, it loose the connection.
somewhere I read about giving it an IP address.
anyone have a resolution?
thanks

Hi @burlintx
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP Printer, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to resolve this issue, including assigning a static IP address to the printer.
Step 1: Check for Printer Firmware Updates
- Open the HP Smart App on your Mac or iOS device.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
- Go to Printer Settings.
- Check for Firmware Updates and install if available.
- On the printer, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Firmware Update.
Step 2: Reset Printer’s Network Settings
- On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
- Go to Settings > Restore Network Settings.
- The printer will reset the network settings and disconnect from any current networks.
Step 3: Assign a Static IP Address to the Printer
Method 1: From the Printer's Control Panel
Reconnect to your Wi-Fi:
- On the printer, go to the Wireless settings and select your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password to reconnect.
Print a Network Configuration Page:
- Go to Settings > Network Setup > Print Network Configuration Page.
- Look for the current IP address of your printer on the report.
Access Router Settings:
- Log into your router’s web interface (usually by entering the router’s IP address in a web browser).
- Look for the DHCP Reservation or Static IP Assignment option (this may vary depending on your router model).
- Add your printer’s MAC address (printed on the network configuration page) and assign it a static IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.150). This ensures your printer always gets the same IP address from the router.
Update Printer's Network Settings:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Network Setup > Manual IP.
- Enter the static IP address you assigned (e.g., 192.168.1.150), subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0), and gateway (your router’s IP address, typically 192.168.1.1).
Method 2: Using HP Smart App
If you have the HP Smart App installed on your Mac or iOS device:
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
- Go to Settings > Network Setup > Advanced Settings.
- Enable Manual IP Setup and assign a static IP address, similar to the steps above.
Step 4: Ensure Strong Wi-Fi Signal
- Reposition the Router: Move the router closer to the printer if possible.
- Wi-Fi Extender: Use a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system to improve signal strength in the area where the printer is located.
- Check Wi-Fi Band: Ensure that your printer is connecting to the 2.4 GHz band (which has better range) instead of the 5 GHz band, as 5 GHz can sometimes have a shorter range.
Step 5: Disable Sleep Mode and Power Saving Features
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Sleep Mode.
- Turn off Auto Sleep or set it to a longer time period to ensure the printer stays active longer.
Step 6: Test with Different Devices
- Try printing from another device (if possible), like a laptop or another iOS device, to confirm if the issue is related to the printer or your Mac/iPhone/iPad setup.
- Try resetting the connection by turning off and turning on your router, printer, and devices.
Step 7: Reinstall Printer Software (Optional)
- Uninstall the HP Smart App or HP Printer Drivers from your Mac/iOS.
- Reboot your device.
- Reinstall the latest HP Smart App from the App Store or the HP website.
- Set up the printer again and check the Wi-Fi connectivity.
