Hello! I’m already reading the infamous sleep mode of the m118dw, however, I’m curious - the printer goes to sleep and when airprinting from my iOS device, no printers found, it does not wake and I have to manually go to the printer to wake up to print.
Any solutions to this matter? It advertises as supporting AirPrint but what’s the point if this is the workflow to use it.
thanks in advance.

@Jason-M118DW, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Yes, HP LaserJet Pro M118dw Printer is AirPrint compatible.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on MAC
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
- Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
- Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
- The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon to get detailed information.
Perform a ping test to check the connectivity
- Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
- On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
- Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
- Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
- Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Did you perform the PING test?
Also, did you check if the router is able to forward Bonjour packets?
If yes, and the issue persists, assign a static IP address to the printer:
Static IP needs to be setup outside the DHCP range- Since the default DHCP address range is between 100 and 149, you'll want to avoid all of the addresses between 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.149 when you're assigning static IP addresses. That leaves the ranges from 2-99 and from 150-254 wide open, which is usually plenty for most home networks.
Let me know how this goes.
