HP DeskJet 4130e All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I did set a password on my printer a while ago and did not use it for a while. I do not remember the password I used.

I need the password to use the scanner so right now I am stuck with an half functioning printer...

How to reset the printer's factory defaults?

Regards

Hi @JPC79,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform an admin password reset on an HP DeskJet Plus 4100 printer, you can follow the steps below.

  • Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer or a wireless network.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address of your printer in the address bar. The IP address can usually be found on the printer's control panel by navigating to the network settings.
  • Press Enter or Return on your keyboard, and the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) page should load.
  • On the EWS page, navigate to the "Security" or "Settings" section.
  • Look for an option related to resetting the admin password. It may be called "Reset Password," "Restore Factory Defaults," or something similar.
  • Click on the option to initiate the password reset process. This action will reset the admin password to the default value.
  • After the reset, you may need to restart the printer to apply the changes.
  • Once the printer restarts, you can access the admin settings using the default password. The default admin password can usually be found in the printer's user manual or documentation. If you can't find it, you can try common default passwords like "admin" or "password." Make sure to change the password to a secure and unique one after logging in.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

hi @Alden4,

I am unable to reach the "reset password" section as it is hidden behind the secured part of the EWS. "A custom printer password has been set. Enter the password or contact your IT administrator to access the printer's web interface."

I need a way to reset the printer on the hardware side.
