All the lights on my HP Smart Tank 210 are on even though I didn’t press the power button, and now it won’t power on even when I press the button. But still the lights on the icons are on. Not blinking, just on.

Hi @JFerreria

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details so clearly — I understand how unsettling it is to see the printer lights on but no response.

If all the lights on your HP Smart Tank 210 are solidly lit and the printer won’t respond to the power button, it may be stuck in a firmware or hardware lock state. A full power reset and USB disconnection can help revive it.

Let’s gently guide it back to normal operation with a few precise steps:

Step-by-Step Recovery for HP Smart Tank 210

1. Perform a Full Power Reset

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it’s still showing lights.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds to allow internal capacitors to discharge.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cables).
  • Press the power button once and observe if the lights reset or the printer responds.

2. Disconnect USB or Network Cables

  • If connected via USB or Ethernet, unplug those cables before powering on.
  • This ensures no external signal is interfering with startup.

3. Check for Button Lock or Panel Freeze

  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then release.
  • Wait another 10 seconds and press it again briefly.
  • If the printer responds, allow it to complete its startup cycle.

4. Inspect for Ink Tank or Cover Misalignment

  • Open the ink access area and gently check if any cover or latch is slightly ajar.
  • Close all covers firmly and retry powering on.

5. Try a Firmware Recovery (if accessible)

If the printer powers on after reset:

  • Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced > Printer Updates
  • Install any available firmware update

If the Printer Still Doesn’t Respond

  • Leave it unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then retry the steps above.
  • If the lights remain frozen and the printer doesn’t initialize, it may require a deeper hardware inspection.

For reference, HP provides a guide on interpreting control panel lights and recovery steps:

You’ve done a great job staying calm and observant — let’s keep working through this until your printer greets you with its usual hum and readiness. If you notice any change in light behavior or hear movement inside, I can guide you through the next steps.
