Hi @Maltesem,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your Android device is unable to print to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Make sure your phone and printer are on the SAME Wi‑Fi

On the printer touchscreen:

  1. Tap Wireless (icon on top of the screen)
  2. Tap Wireless Settings
  3. Tap Wireless Network Test
  4. Ensure it shows:
    • Connected
    • Your Wi‑Fi network’s EXACT name

On your Samsung Android:

  1. Open Settings → Wi‑Fi
  2. Connect to the same network name shown on the printer screen

Important:
The OfficeJet Pro 8600 supports 2.4 GHz only.
If your phone is on 5 GHz, it will not see the printer.

If needed, connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz network.

Step 2: Install or update the HP Print Service Plugin

This part is essential.
Even if HP Smart is installed, Android cannot print until this plugin is enabled.

  1. Open Google Play Store
  2. Search HP Print Service Plugin
  3. Install or Update
  4. Open it once
  5. Turn ON “Enable Printing”

Your phone should now scan for HP printers on the network.

Step 3: Restart the Android printing system

Sometimes Android’s printing service gets stuck.

  1. On your phone → Settings
  2. Tap Connections or Connected Devices
  3. Tap Printing
  4. Tap Default Print Service → turn OFF then ON
  5. Tap HP Print Service Plugin → confirm it's ON

Step 4: Test printing directly from Android

Try printing a simple document:

  1. Open Gallery / Photos or Files
  2. Tap Share
  3. Tap Print
  4. Choose HP OfficeJet Pro 8600
  5. Tap Print

If the printer appears and prints → you’re done.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
