I have a 5101 connected to WiFi that prints just fine. But the HP app doesn't recognize it. I had a difficult time getting it connected, apparently because it was trying to connect to 5G. I plugged in a USB cable and got it connected. I take away the cable and the HP app says it's having connection issues. It prints from any app but I can't scan. What to do? I don't want to leave it on a USB cable.
***UPDATE***
I always figure these things out 5 minutes after I post. I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP app. Probem solved.

Since the printer can print over Wi-Fi but the HP app can't find it, the issue may be with the app's connection to the printer. Make sure your phone or computer and the printer are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, not the 5 GHz one. Then try removing the printer from the HP app and adding it again while the USB cable is unplugged.
If it still doesn't show up, try restarting the printer and router, then check if the HP app has any updates. You shouldn't need to keep the USB cable connected just to use the printer wirelessly.
