HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hello,

My Officejet Pro 8620 is connected to my 2.4Ghz network, as are all my Apple devices.   The problem is my Mac and other devices keep "losing" the printer.  When I use any of the HP utilities on my Mac, it says the "printer is offline" or not found.   I have reset the printer several times.  It always finds the network easily and shows it is connected.  I am not sure why it keeps dropping from my devices.   When I type in the printer's ip, I don't get a ping, but it tells me that I am connected via email, if I want to use that application to print.

I have been able to get it back online by resetting my router (that is, keeping it offline at least 10 minutes).  A brief reset doesn't work.  I suspect that I may need to update the printer's firmware (though I thought that was automatic), but I can't do it unless I am connected via wifi.  The 8620 does not provide a way to update firmware directly from the printer.

I recently upgraded my Mac OS to Monterey (OS 12.x), thinking that would solve these problems (all of which are new, by the way), but to no avail.

I have followed ALL the recommendations online that I can find for fixing this.  Since my devices connect to everything else, I can only think it is the printer.  PLEASE don't suggest I follow instructions that are already available online.  I assure you, I have.

Thanks,

Joe Childers
