HP envy 6055

I understand that HP in their infamous wisdom has decided that the auto shut down feature cannot be changed, and I also understand that opening the scanner lead or the paper tray and closing it automatically triggers the power to come on. This feature does not work on the 6055 what I have got is not being able to print remotely because I have to be present in front of the printer to take out the power cord and replace it back into the power outlet. Totally not something that is feasible to operate the printer. My next purchase of a printer will not be HP unless they change the power mode setting.

Hi @PaulieScout80,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I hear your frustration, the auto shut‑down behavior on the HP Envy 6055 is a design limitation built into the firmware, and unfortunately it cannot be changed or customized. I understand how inconvenient it feels to need to be physically present just to power cycle the printer when you want to print remotely.

If the printer is connected to Wi‑Fi and web services are active, sending a job from HP Smart should wake it automatically.

If it doesn’t, that points to a firmware bug.

I appreciate you sharing this feedback. HP does take customer input seriously when designing future models.

Is there anything else about your Envy 6055 setup or printing experience that you’d like assistance with today?

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
