As the subject states, apparently my printer is "too old" for HP to receive status information (e.g. ink levels), yet I'm still being charged for Instant Ink and presumably have been for quite some time. I'm not sure when my printer went over the hill—I've had no reason to login to my account and I didn't receive any notice from HP—but I do know that I've been charged monthly for Instant Ink ever since despite my printer's ineligibility for the service. Just curious how this is legal and how I can get a refund for every bill I've paid since the OfficeJet 4650 became obsolete.

@kstov, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink Charges on Older Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems like you are facing an issue with Instant Ink charges due to your printer not being compatible with sending ink level information to HP, possibly because it's an older model. HP Instant Ink is designed to automatically deliver ink before you run out, based on monitoring the ink levels and usage directly from your printer.

Here are some steps you can take to manage and resolve this issue:

Check Printer Compatibility: Verify whether your printer model supports HP Instant Ink. HP provides a list of compatible printers on their website. If your printer is indeed "too old" or incompatible with Instant Ink, you may need to consider alternative solutions for ink management.

Account Review: Log into your HP Instant Ink account to review your subscription details and printer status. This will help you to understand whether the printer is being detected or not and check your billing history.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
