We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I recently cancelled my Instant Ink subscription and purchased and installed HP Ink cartridges.  Now, the blue light indicating that the printer is connected to my home network is a solid blue.  However, when I try to print, the following error message appears:

Hi @PhilB221,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that the Wi‑Fi light is solid blue; the printer is connected to the network. If you still get a message saying there is no Wi‑Fi connection or cannot print after cancelling HP Instant Ink and installing regular HP cartridges, HP recommends checking the following:

  • HP+ and Instant Ink enrolled printers require an active internet connection for Web Services to work properly. If the printer was recently enrolled, a lost or incomplete Web Services connection can stop printing even if local Wi‑Fi is connected.

  • After cancelling Instant Ink, you can keep printing with Instant Ink cartridges only until the end of the current billing cycle. After that, you must install regular cartridges to continue printing.

  • Since you already installed regular HP cartridges, the next steps are to:

    1. Restart the printer, router, and your computer/mobile device.

    2. Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as the printer.

    3. In the HP app, check whether the printer status shows Ready.

    4. Check Web Services in the printer Embedded Web Server and make sure it is enabled.

    5. If needed, reset Web Services and enable it again.

    6. Check the HP Smart account page and refresh the printer status.

    7. Update the printer firmware. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support

If the error message specifically mentions an account, connection, or subscription problem, HP also says billing/account issues can block printing for Instant Ink-enrolled printers until the service state is updated.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
