Printer won't communicate with desktop. "Bonjour malfunction" noted. I've restarted printer, computer and wifi. No change.

Hi @zumablu
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The "Bonjour malfunction" issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 on macOS Big Sur could be related to network settings or compatibility.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Verify Network Connection:
- Ensure both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your router to refresh the network connection.
Reset the Printing System:
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
- Add your printer again by clicking the "+" button and selecting it from the list.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model compatible with macOS Big Sur.
Check Bonjour Settings:
- Open your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address in a web browser.
- Navigate to the Networking or Bonjour settings and ensure Bonjour is enabled.
Assign a Static IP Address:
- In the printer's EWS, assign a static IP address to the printer to avoid connectivity issues caused by dynamic IP changes.
Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store and use it to set up and manage your printer.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
