Hi @sonneulrm,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" typically indicates an issue with the SSL/TLS encryption protocols or cipher suites being used in the connection between your web browser and the server you're trying to access. In the context of an HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS), this error can occur when trying to access the printer's web interface over HTTPS.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Browser Compatibility: Ensure that you are using a modern and up-to-date web browser. Outdated browsers might not support the latest SSL/TLS protocols and cipher suites.

Check SSL/TLS Settings on the Printer:

  • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address in your browser.
  • Navigate to the Security or Network settings section and check the SSL/TLS settings. Make sure that it is configured to use a secure protocol version and compatible cipher suites.
  • If possible, try adjusting the SSL/TLS settings to use more widely supported options.

Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware on the printer can sometimes lead to compatibility issues. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer.

Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, cached data in your browser can cause issues. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, and then try accessing the EWS again.

Try a Different Browser: If the issue persists, try accessing the EWS using a different browser to see if the problem is browser-specific.

Check Date and Time Settings: Ensure that the date and time settings on both your computer and the printer are accurate. SSL/TLS connections can fail if there's a significant time difference between the devices.

Reset Printer Network Settings: As a last resort, you can try resetting the network settings on the printer and reconfigure the network connection. This might help if there's a configuration issue causing the SSL error.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
