response helped me. Please forgive my anger and frustration with HP and their UPDATES..

 

ISSUE: Everything was locked and grayed out on my printer screen. Everything that was useful. I took out the plug, rebooted my computer still nothing.

 

Solution: Hit the "BACK" Button looks like the turn "U-TURN" to the left symbol. Continue to do this but watch the screen because information will pop up quickly. Choose "Semi-Factory Reset" 

Personally, I made sure not to accept any updates, frameware, or downloads from HP in the future but this is my option. Nothing is grayed out now, I have not tried to setup wireless again, I most likely won't I'll do ethernet.
