Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n)
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I've been using my using my Officejet 6000 wirelessly for years, now. But the software that comes with it required flash which recently expired. So I tried the troubleshooting of changing the date and time back to before Jan 2021. That didn't work. Since then, I've tried literally everything to reconnect it wirelessly. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers; added and removed the printers, I've tried manually going through my router to add it and manually manipulating Windows Firewall rules, printer out the Wireless Network Test Report, and used every kind of diagnostic tool to fix it to no avail.

Most recently, I've used HP Print and Scan Doctor to try and fix things, but it always hits and error when it reaches the part where it tries to reconfigure the drivers:

I follow the instruction to unplug the ethernet cable from each and hit uninstall...and nothing happens. Literally nothing happens.

I feel like this is a probably super-easy fix and I'm missing something. Can someone help me remedy this situation?

If it might help, On the Wireless Network Test Report one can print-out, some things that caught my eye include:

Network Name (SSID) Found: FAIL

On the HP Network Configuration Page print-out:

Network Status: Offline

802.11 Wireless:

Status: Disconnected

Everything else looks pretty normal. Interestingly enough, and earlier Network Test Report had it passing finding my network name.

So, anyone have any ideas of what's going on and why I can't print wirelessly and why it's not finding the drivers?

So, now, I can't even print using the cable; the computer isn't even recognizing anything is plugged into the port. Did I accidentally turn the port us? Someone please help. This is getting worse with each troubleshoot.

Okay, so somehow I was able to get my USB connection and Ethernet connections to work. For the ethernet connection, though, I have to plug it into my router; my USB connection goes straight to my computer.

However, I still haven't got my direct wireless connection from my computer to my printer. I get this error message during setup of wireless configurations:

"The printer attempted to join the network but is not receiving any data. This may be caused by MAC address filtering. If MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, add the MAC address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your wireless access point or router before continuing. Print the Wireless Network Test report from your printer to find the MAC address of your printer."

So, I tried adding the MAC address directly to my router, but to no avail. My HP Network Configuration Page print-out under 802.11 Wireless is still reading "Status: Disconnected" right under the MAC address. When I enter the Device Name in my router, is this a specific name or just what I want to call that connection? on the print-out it says "Hostname" so I just added that as the device name.

Why have we gotten no answers or replies?

I run all the setup wizards and diagnostic programs. At the end of the day, it's saying that printer can not be detected over the network. Everything is fine if I print by ethernet cable or USB, but I want to use the printer wirelessly like I had been doing.

Is the printer supposed to be communicating with my router or my computer? In any case, on the printers advanced settings, I noticed that the ports don't seem to be correct. The utilty for the printer says it's supposed to be with a DOT or USB port, and I don't see those on the list. I don't really know how to add a port, and haven't seen that mentioned here.

Can ANYONE help with this? I'm willing to be asked as many questions as it takes to fix this, but I need some interaction with anyone familiar with this problem.

  1. I've tried everything. Now my computer won't recognized a connection to the printer from the USB port, so I'm down to the Ethernet connection, which is also not working, right now. I've tried using Windows driver update wizard and it's saying it can't find the drivers. I've download the drivers from the HP website, and it still showing in my Device Manager a problem with the printer.

My goodness, won't ANYONE respond?
