I've downloaded HP Smart app on my Android Version 10 phone. My HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w printer diagnostic says it is connected to the wifi successfully. But my phone can't find it still. At one point I was looking for a "supported printers list" and couldn't find it. Is my printer not supported by this app. I thought it was a pretty new printer, this doesn't seem right. If it is, why can't I find it?

Hi @Andrew2487,

I'd like to help!

To assist better -

1.) Are the printer and computer connected to the same network?

2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual-band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.

3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer?

4.)Is the printer connected home network or a public network?

Keep me posted.

Jay,

1.) Are the printer and computer connected to the same network? - Yes

2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual-band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks. - Yes, but I don't think it has different SSIDs. My printer's Wireless Network Test Report has a Pass for Network Name (SSID) found.

3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer? Same room

4.)Is the printer connected home network or a public network? Home network.

More info: My phone can see my printer listed on the wifi devices list, but nothing on the HP Smart App. Also, in case it helps, my friend was able to print on it instantly from his iPhone X as soon as he logged into my wifi.

Make sure the printer and ios are connected to the 2.4GHz network.

Let's try these steps -

Step 1- Check for updates on your iPhone.

try these steps -Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Step2 -Try updating printer firmware

To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Step 3-Reboot your iPhone.

Step 4- Re-install the HP Smart app

Let me know how that goes 🙂
