Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I am unable to print from the computer or the HP App on my printer.

I've done all the things; rebooted router, printer, computer.  Removed and reinstalled the printer, removed and reinstalled the wifi.   I am getting frustrated and running out of ideas.  It won't print a test paper from my computer. I ran diagnostics, checked for updates, and installed all firmware updates.   I've added the device to my devices in MS.

It shows the device as "ready" and "connected," but when I hit print, nothing happens.   We also use Quantum 5g. I called and they said they show the printer as a connected device and there shouldn't be an issue with wifi connection.

I am running out of ideas...

Turned off Bluetooth - it will print from my phone.  So I turned that off, thinking that was the issue.  Still not printing.

I use a MS Surface - new 2025.

Hi @NinaKB1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are unable to connect your computer to your HP printer and have already tried rebooting the router, printer, and computer, as well as re-installing the printer, you may follow these additional steps to resolve the issue:

Run Windows Update:

  • In Windows, search for "Check for updates" and open it.
  • Click "Check for updates" to install any available updates.
  • Restart your computer after all updates are installed.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Turn off your printer by pressing the Power button. If it does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer and power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord.
  • Turn the printer back on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Make sure both the printer and the computer are connected to the same network if the printer connects over Wi-Fi.

Remove and Re-add the Printer:

  • In Windows, search for "Printers & scanners" and open it.
  • Select the printer and click "Remove device."
  • Open the HP Smart app. Right-click the printer and select "Hide Printer," then "Hide Printer" again to confirm.
  • Re-add the printer by selecting "Add printer" on the HP Smart app's home screen and following the prompts to install the printer again.

Take care and have an amazing day!
