Can't connect the printer to Wi-fi with netgear armor

@GGmama1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP DeskJet 2852e printer to Wi-Fi when using Netgear Armor. This issue is often related to enhanced security features in Netgear Armor that may block new devices from joining the network. Here's how you can resolve it:

Temporarily Disable Netgear Armor

Netgear Armor may block new devices like printers from connecting. Try disabling it temporarily:

  • Open the Nighthawk app or log in to your Netgear router admin page.
  • Go to Security > Netgear Armor.
  • Toggle Armor OFF temporarily.

You can re-enable it after the printer is successfully connected.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

To ensure a clean connection attempt:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer until the Power light blinks.
  • This resets the network settings.

Use HP Smart App to Reconnect

  • Download the HP Smart app from HP Smart App Download. HP Smart
  • Open the app and click “+” to add a printer.
  • Follow the on-screen steps to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

Make sure your phone or PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Ensure 2.4GHz Band is Enabled

HP DeskJet 2852e only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi:

  • Log in to your Netgear router settings.
  • Ensure the 2.4GHz band is enabled and broadcasting.
  • If you have a combined SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, consider separating them temporarily.

Add Printer MAC Address to Allowed Devices (Optional)

If Armor is still blocking:

  • Find the printer’s MAC address via the HP Smart app or printer’s network configuration page.
  • Add it to the allowed devices list in your Netgear Armor settings.
