Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Officejet 8630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For some reason my printer stopped working, only from my Windows 10 computer.  I cannot print.  I can scan from my OfficeJet 8630 to my computer, but unable to print.  It just comes up with "Error - Printing".  In the Printers settings, the printer shows installed and working, but after I try to print it just says "Printer status: Default, Error"

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software over and over - did full cleans, deletes and reboots.  Even followed another article on here which provided a reg update - that didn't work either.  I know the printer works, because I have an older laptop with older Windows OS and it can print fine.

Something must have happened with a Windows 10 update that killed it as it used to work..

I have resolved this myself - for anyone that is having same problems with older HP printers on Windows 10, here's the answer.

SOLUTION:

-Remove all traces of HP drivers and HP software.  Make sure your printer is removed and not listed in Printers & Scanners.

-Reboot

-Download the latest (if you don't already have it) HP Driver package for your printer.

-Right click on the downloaded .exe, select Properties.  Select the Compatibility tab, and run in Compatibility mode for Windows 7.  Also select Run this program as Administrator checkbox:

-Hit OK, and then double click to run the installer.

VOILA, your printer should now be able to print from Windows 10...

Hope this helps folks as I did NOT want to by a new printer.
