HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer

I cannot no longer airprint from my Iphone 12 to my Hp Officejet Pro 9018 even though I am still able to print from my Lenovo laptop. Even HP Smart cannot connect to the printer. My Iphone, the printer and my laptop are all on the same WIFI network as they always have been. The router is an ATT BGW210. I have worked on this for days and tried every option provided on the web and nothing works. It is beginning to look like a different printer is going to be the only option.

Hi @Barbsbro,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 and AirPrint. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Restart All Devices:

  • Turn off your iPhone, HP printer, and the router.
  • Wait a few seconds, then turn them back on.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 has the latest firmware installed. You can check and update the firmware through the printer's control panel or HP's website.

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Confirm that your iPhone, printer, and laptop are all connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Consider restarting your router or connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to see if the issue persists.

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your iPhone and reinstall it from the App Store.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the app and connect it to your printer.

Printer IP Address:

  • Check the IP address of your HP printer through its control panel or by printing a network configuration page.
  • Ensure that the IP address matches the one listed in your iPhone's AirPrint settings.

Reset Network Settings on iPhone:

  • Go to "Settings" on your iPhone.
  • Navigate to "General" > "Reset" > "Reset Network Settings."
  • Confirm the reset and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

Firewall/Antivirus Software:

  • Check if any firewall or antivirus software on your laptop is blocking communication between the iPhone and the printer. Temporarily disable them to test.

Printer Settings:

  • Check the printer settings to ensure AirPrint is enabled. You can usually find this in the printer's web interface or through the control panel.

Router Settings:

  • Log in to your router's web interface and ensure that AirPrint and Bonjour services are enabled. Consult your router's manual for specific instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

My problem is resolved. My AT&T router/gateway has 2 networks;  a 2.4 Ghz network and a 5 Ghz network. Both networks had the same ssid name. When selecting the network name on my Iphone or on my printer the router selected the selected either the 2.4 or the 5. So from appearances sake, it looked like I had the same network on both but actually did not. An ATT agent changed the name of the 2.4 Ghz network to be different from the 5 Ghz network. Then when I selected the network for my iphone and for my printer, I could be sure I was connecting them to the same network. Suddenly I could Airprint witjout any difficulties.  When choosing a printer bonjour discovery through the router is what gives you the printers that can be selected on that network. This may not solve the problem for everyone but it is worth considering. Believe me when i say I spent days repeatedly restarting the router, my iphone and the printer only to learn making the chsnge on the router was the only solution to fix my problem. I sincerely hope that someone reading this saves themselves all of the frustrations I went through.
