Hi @JamieT2024 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see you are unable to login to Hp smart app. Please do not worry I will try my best to help you.

May I know if the HP smart app is up to date?

May I know do you get any error while logging in?

Have you tried with different browsers? May I know is it happening in all the devices? Have you tried with a different device?

In the meantime, Please follow the steps mentioned below:

If you are using a chrome browser, make sure the browser and HP Smart app is up to date, and then manually open the browser within the HP Smart app.

  • Restart your mobile device or Chromebook, and make sure it is connected to the internet.
  • Check the app store for an update.
  • For mobile devices with the Huawei browser, continue with these steps.
  • For mobile devices with the Chrome browser, go to Chrome (in English) in the Google Play Store, and then click Update, if available.
  • For Chromebooks, go to HP Smart (in English) in the Google Play Store, and then update the app to version 8.9.0.58 or later.
  • Open the HP Smart app, and then tap App Settings > Sign In.
  • Tap the Menu icon in the top right, and then tap Open in Chrome or Open in browser.
  • Sign in to or create an account.
  • If you can sign in, you are done troubleshooting.
  • If you cannot sign in to or create an account, continue with these steps.
  • If you get a Something went wrong or Account already exists message after creating an account, close then reopen the app. Select Sign in, and then enter your credentials. If the issue persists, continue with these steps.
  • Install the Firefox app from your app store.
  • Change the default browser to Firefox.
  • In Android, open the Settings app.
  • Search for and open the Default apps or Default browser menu, and then select Firefox in the list.
  • Open the HP Smart app, and then sign in to or create an account.
  • After the printer setup is complete and you can sign in, change the default browser back to your preferred settings.

If you are using any other browser or a different device please click in this link for the details troubleshooting instruction.

I hope this helps.

I have the same problem as JamieT2024, using the HPSmart program on a PC running
Windows 10 Pro ands Chjropme as my browser, which is up to date. If I try to get my Instant Ink account overview through the app it cannot  sign in and I get the message blow, just as Jamie does;

Chris_B_0-1713436459976.png

I believe HPSmart is up to date – the app does not seem to have a Check for Updates option,  but the version  is 152.1.1099.0  dated 4 March 2024. I can, however, access the account if I go onto the HPSmart website directly via Chrome.

In terms of your specific questions:

May I know if the HP smart app is up to date? Yes

May I know do you get any error while logging in? Yes – the one above

Have you tried with different browsers? Not yet

May I know is it happening in all the devices? Have you tried with a different device? I have  just tried on my Moto G phone on Android. While the login seems to work, I then just get a spinner saying “Loading HP account” and it stalls there.

Does that help you trouble shoot the problem? I hope you can help.

Now I tried to log in using Edge as my browser - a bit of a faff because it was not my default browser. This time, the log in worked and I could get into my account and get the info I needed from HPSmart. I then closed HPSmart and Edge and opened HPSmart again - this time it did not ask to log in, despite having closed.

So, it seems to be a problem with HPSmart and Chrome. I shall monitor and see if I can continue to use the utility with Chrome, without having to resort to Edge.

HP Smart is still working OK without l;ogin problems the next day, and has survived a restart of the PC. Long may it last.
