HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer

I have an Office Jet Pro 6975. I just changed internet providers and received a new modem.  So am trying to hook up the printer back up to the wireless connection.  When I try to enable wireless settings and connect to the new wifi network the printer is telling me that the feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer.  I don't recall ever locking any features when I first set this printer up.  My question is  how do I go about unlocking the wireless feature so I can connect my printer to my new network?  Thanks.

Thanks for you tips Alden. I have been able to reset the printer, however, in my case I needed to turn the printer on, and then touch the back button four or five times so the reset menu was shown. I then selected partial reset and that did the trick. Cheers.

Hi @SFeeley,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 printer is telling you that the wireless feature has been locked, it's possible that someone might have set up a wireless security PIN or password to restrict access to the wireless settings. You may need to reset the printer's network settings to clear this restriction and connect it to your new Wi-Fi network. Here's how you can do it.

Factory Reset: A factory reset will clear all settings on the printer, including the wireless settings. Here's how to perform a factory reset:

  • a. Make sure the printer is turned on.
  • b. Touch the screen to access the Home menu.
  • c. Navigate to "Setup" or "Tools" (the exact menu names may vary).
  • d. Select "Restore Defaults" or "Factory Reset" (again, the exact wording may vary).
  • e. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and perform the reset.

WPS Button: If the above method doesn't work, you can try using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router. This may allow you to connect without needing to access the printer's settings. Here's how:

  • a. Press the WPS button on your router.
  • b. On the printer, navigate to the wireless setup menu and select WPS as the method for connecting.
  • c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.

HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart App installed on a mobile device, you may be able to reset the printer's network settings through the app.

Please note that a factory reset will erase any other custom settings on your printer, so be prepared to reconfigure your printer settings after performing the reset. Additionally, make sure you have your new Wi-Fi network's SSID and password ready to reconnect the printer once it's been reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
