HP Ink Tank Wireless 415

Hello,

I am unable to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of my HP Ink Tank Wireless Printer. Whenever I try, it asks for a username and password which I never set.

Steps I have already tried:

  • Resetting the network configuration.

  • Attempting to log in with blank fields.

  • Trying common default credentials (e.g., admin/admin, admin/password).

  • Following various troubleshooting suggestions found online.

Unfortunately, none of these methods worked.

Request for help:

  • What are the default login credentials for this printer model?

  • Is there a way to reset or bypass the EWS login?

  • Will a full factory reset remove the EWS password?

  • Are there any HP tools or methods to reconfigure/reset this setting?

I would greatly appreciate step-by-step guidance or any variable solutions.

Thank you!

Hi @Yojas

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly—I'm really sorry you're locked out of the Embedded Web Server (EWS) on your HP Ink Tank Wireless 415.

This issue typically occurs when the EWS administrator password was set during initial setup or via HP Smart, and it’s now required for access.

Let’s walk through exactly what you can do.

Key Facts About EWS Login on HP Ink Tank 415

  • There are no default credentials like admin/admin or admin/password for this model.
  • If no password was set manually, the EWS may still prompt for one due to:
    • HP Smart account binding
    • HP+ or web services activation
    • Firmware security updates
  • A factory reset can remove the EWS password only if Web Services are disabled afterward.

Step-by-Step: Reset EWS Password & Regain Access

1. Restore Network Defaults

You’ve already done this, but confirm it again:

  • On the printer control panel:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds
    • Wait for the wireless light to blink

This resets Wi-Fi and network settings, but not the EWS password.

2. Perform Full Factory Reset

This clears all settings including EWS credentials.

  • Power on the printer
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • While holding it, press the Cancel button 3 times, then the Resume button 7 times
  • Release the Power button

The printer will restart and reset all internal settings.

3. Disable Web Services Immediately After Reset

  • After reset, do not enable Web Services or sign in to HP Smart
  • Access EWS via IP address (e.g., http://192.168.x.x)
  • You should now be able to log in without a password

If Web Services are re-enabled, the EWS may re-lock and require HP account credentials.

4. Optional: Reconfigure Securely

If you want to use HP Smart or Web Services:

  • Access EWS and set a new admin password manually
  • Enable Web Services and link to your HP account
  • This ensures future access without lockout

Let me know if you need help finding the printer’s IP address or if the reset doesn’t unlock EWS—I’ll guide you step by step.

You’re doing everything right by catching this early—I’ll stay with you until you’re back in.
