6400e series printer that I cannot get back online. Research shows I need the direct printer password, which I do not have. I tried printing the info page which also did not reveal the password. Help

I understand you're having trouble getting your HP ENVY 6400e printer back online and need help retrieving the printer's Wi-Fi Direct password. Let's walk through the steps to resolve this:

Print the Network Configuration Page

This page contains important details including the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

To print the page:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Press and hold the Information button (i) until all control panel buttons light up.
  • Then press the Information button (i) and the Cancel button (X) together.
  • The printer will print a Network Configuration Page and Wireless Test Report.

Look for the Wi-Fi Direct section on the page. The password should be listed there.

Connect to Wi-Fi Direct

Once you have the password:

  • On your computer or mobile device, go to Wi-Fi settings.
  • Look for a network name like DIRECT-xx-HP ENVY 6400 series.
  • Select it and enter the password from the info page.

Re-add Printer to HP Smart/HP App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Tap Add Printer and select your printer from the list.
  • Follow the prompts to complete setup.

Reset Network Settings (if needed)

If you're still unable to connect:

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
  • This will reset the network settings.
  • Then, use HP Smart to set up the printer again.
