HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I got a new router and the network name chaged. I have been unable to change the network name on the printer and I cannot get it to connect wirelessly.

When I print a test page it tells me its connected to the old network name and I am unable to chnage it.

I have tried connecting it via USB to several computer and it just says its offline. I have tried the smartapp, but it doesnt see the printer.

I have looked here No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change

but it doesnt seem to have the instructions for the display on a laserjet Pro MFP M28w

Thanks,

Mark

Update. I held down the wifi button and the X button to put it into wifi setup mode, when i get to the 'select your wifi network screen on the phone app it doesnt list any networks.

If your new router has a WPS button press and hold wi-fi button on a printer for 5 seconds, then after release press a WPS button on a router.

make sure the router has 2,4GHz wi-fi band enabled because printer the printer supports the 2,4GHz wi-fi band only.

The new router does have a WPS button and 2.4Ghz is enabled. I followed your instructions and the wifi light comes on solid blue. But when I search in Printers and Scanners (in Windows 11), the printer does not appear..I have downloaded HP Smart app as well and when I search for the printer it doesnt find anything..

Thanks

Solid wi-fi blue is a good first sign your printer is now connected to wi-fi. To confirm press and hold the Start copy button for several seconds, when the Ready start to blink release the Start copy button. The printer should print a network configuration page with an IP address, you can try to add a printer on your computer by IP address.
