How do I get it to connect to the new router? I`ve had issues with this since I bought the thing but after almost being scammed today while trying to get over the phone customer support I`m at my wits end with the whole company

@KaitlynB24, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I’m truly sorry to hear about the frustration you’ve experienced, especially with something that should be simple like connecting your HP DeskJet 2734e to a new router. It’s completely understandable to be upset, especially after a negative experience with illegitimate support sources. You're in the right place now, and I’ll personally help you get this sorted step by step — no phone calls, no scams, and no unnecessary complications.

Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Ensure Router Compatibility: Verify that your router supports WPS. It should have a WPS button.

Initiate WPS on Printer:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the wireless light begins to blink. This indicates that WPS mode is activated.

Activate WPS on Router:

  • Press the WPS button on your wireless router within two minutes of starting WPS mode on the printer.

Connections Established: If the connection is successful, the wireless light on the printer will stop blinking and remain lit.

Using the Wireless Setup Wizard

If your router does not support WPS, or if you prefer another method, use the Wireless Setup Wizard:

Start Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Access the printer display menu by pressing the Wireless button on the printer.
  • Navigate to Settings, then select Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select Your Network:

  • The printer will search for available networks. Select your network from the list.

Enter Network Credentials:

  • If prompted, enter your network’s SSID and security password.

Complete Setup: Follow any additional on-screen instructions to finalize the connection process.

Change from USB Connection

If you initially set up your printer using a USB connection and want to switch to wireless:

Open Printer Setup & Software:

  • Navigate to the start menu on your computer and select All Programs > HP > HP DeskJet 2734e series.

Select Conversion Option:

  • Choose "Convert a USB connected printer to wireless" and follow the on-screen instructions.

General Tips

  • Ensure your wireless network is operational: Make sure your router is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Printer and computer should be on the same network: Ensure your computer is connected to the same network you want your printer to connect to.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
