My printer is not populating on the app to add the printer.  I have printed off this printer before. On the screen there is something that keeps going around in a circle and then the bars are all full.

Hi @Brittany261

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I can imagine how inconvenient this feels, especially since you’ve already used the printer successfully before. Thank you for sharing the details about what you see on the screen—it helps us focus on the right areas.

Let’s go step by step to reconnect the printer with the app:

Check Network Connection

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  • On the printer’s control panel, open the Wireless or Network menu and confirm the Wi‑Fi is active and showing full bars.
  • If the printer is stuck with the spinning circle, try restarting the printer and router to refresh the connection.

Restart the HP App

  • Close the HP App completely and reopen it.
  • If the printer still doesn’t appear, sign out and sign back in to the app.

Add Printer Manually

  • In the HP App, select “Add Printer.”
  • Choose “Set up a new printer” or “Add manually.”
  • Enter the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the printer’s control panel under Wireless Settings > Network Information).

Run Diagnose & Fix

  • Open HP Support Assistant on your computer.
  • Select your printer, then go to “Troubleshooting and fixes.”
  • Run “Diagnose & Fix” to automatically check and repair connection issues.
  • Direct link: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Update Printer Firmware and App

  • Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your printer model and check for the latest firmware updates.
  • Also ensure the HP App is updated to the latest version from the Microsoft Store or your device’s app store.

Check Firewall or Security Settings

  • Sometimes firewall or antivirus software can block the printer from being discovered.
  • Temporarily disable them and try adding the printer again.

These steps should help the printer reappear in the app and restore smooth printing. If you’d like, I can guide you through finding the printer’s IP address so you can add it manually—that often resolves the spinning circle issue quickly.
