HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer

I just went on vacation for a few days and came back to see that my printer is not connecting to my Mac. I tried to print and it said the printer cannot connect in the print queue. I removed the printer and tried to install it again and I got an error "Unable to communicate with the printer at this time. Unable to connect to "HP OfficeJet 5200 series [FDF212]._ipps._tcp.local.' due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?" I thought the issue was the MacBook so I tried it on another MacBook that is more updated and came to the same result. I already turned it off and on, reset the network settings, and uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart on both MacBooks.

I see that you are facing issues with connecting your HP OfficeJet 5200 series Printer to Mac computer.

 

Please follow the steps listed below to reset printing systems and then add the printer.
1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.
4. Click Reset or OK.
Note: Once you click on reset any other printer added to this computer will also get deleted and needs to be added again.
5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK. The printing system resets.
6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.
9. Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.
It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

I tried resetting the printer system and re-adding it but it still says “Unable to communicate with the printer at this time.” I don’t believe this is a computer error, but a printer error since I experienced the same issue on another computer. Please let me know what else I should try, thanks.
