@Bigknitter, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's get your HP ENVY 6458e printer reconnected to your network and online again. Here's a step-by-step guide depending on your setup:

Quick Restart (Often fixes the issue)

  1. Restart your printer: Unplug it from power, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
  2. Restart your Wi-Fi router: Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
  3. Restart your computer or phone (whichever you're printing from).

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Option 1: Use the HP Smart App (Recommended)

  1. Download the HP Smart App on your phone or computer from 123.hp.com.
  2. Open the app and add your printer.
  3. If it’s not found, select Set Up a New Printer.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.

Tip: Make sure your phone or computer is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to connect to.

Option 2: Use the Printer’s Control Panel

If you have access to the printer screen and buttons:

  1. On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button (📶) for 5 seconds until the light starts blinking. This puts the printer in Wi-Fi Setup Mode.
  2. Use the HP Smart app or go to 123.hp.com on a device to continue setup.

Still Says Printer is Offline?

Once connected to Wi-Fi:

  1. Open Printers & Scanners on your PC or Mac.
  2. Select your printer, then click Open queue.
  3. Click Printer in the menu, and make sure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
