Hi @EriConda,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148dw is struggling to reconnect after you updated the Wi-Fi password. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network:

1. Reset the Printer's Network Settings

  • On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button (or navigate to the Setup menu).
  • Select Network Setup or Wireless Settings.
  • Choose Restore Network Defaults or Reset Wireless Settings.
  • This will remove the old Wi-Fi settings and allow you to configure the printer with the new Wi-Fi network.

2. Reconfigure the Printer to Connect to Wi-Fi

After resetting the network settings, you need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi:

  • Press the Wireless button again.
  • Select Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) or Wireless Setup Wizard, depending on your router’s features.
    • WPS: If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router, and then follow the printer's prompts.
    • Wireless Setup Wizard: If you don’t have WPS, this will allow you to manually enter your Wi-Fi network details.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the new password.

3. Use HP Smart App (if needed) HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer (if you don’t have it, download it from the Microsoft Store).
  • In the app, select Add Printer and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer with the new Wi-Fi password.

4. Restart the Printer and Router

  • Power cycle both your printer and router to ensure they reset properly and clear any connection issues.
  • Turn off both devices, wait about 30 seconds, and then turn them back on.

5. Check for IP Address Conflict

  • If the printer is still not connecting, there may be an IP conflict on your network. Access your router's admin page and check if the printer is listed as a connected device.
  • If needed, assign a static IP address to the printer.

6. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
