Hi @Maryann571,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 5055 printer is having trouble connecting to HP Web Services, it might not necessarily be retired, but there could be several reasons for the connection issue. Here’s how you can troubleshoot this problem:
1. Check Internet Connection
- Ensure Connectivity: Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device. Verify that your network is stable and working by testing other devices.
2. Verify Printer Status
- Printer Health: Check if your printer has any error messages or warnings on its display panel. Address any issues indicated by these messages.
3. Update Printer Firmware
- Firmware Update: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues. Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer and install it if necessary. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
4. Check HP Web Services
- HP Connected Services: HP Web Services (such as HP ePrint) might occasionally experience outages or issues. Visit the HP Smart website to see if there are any known service disruptions.
5. Reconfigure Web Services
- Reset Web Services: Sometimes resetting the printer’s web services can resolve connection problems. To do this:
- From the Printer’s Control Panel: Go to the printer’s menu, find the Web Services or ePrint settings, and choose to set up or reset Web Services.
- From HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app, open it, select your printer, and navigate to the Web Services or ePrint setup section to reset or reconfigure it.
6. Re-add Printer in HP Smart App
- Remove and Re-add: In the HP Smart app, remove your printer and then re-add it. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues with web services.
7. Network Configuration
- Printer IP Address: Ensure that the printer’s IP address is correctly configured. Sometimes issues with network settings can prevent proper communication with web services.
- Network Isolation: Ensure that your printer is not isolated from the internet by any network settings or security features on your router.
8. Perform a Factory Reset
- Reset the Printer: If all else fails, you might want to perform a factory reset on your printer. This will restore the printer to its original settings and can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
- Factory Reset Procedure: Check your printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset, as the method can vary by model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
