HP Photosmart C4750 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to set up WiFi access on a new network for HP Photosmart C4750, and nothing works. It was previously on another WiFi, some years ago. Later I used it with USB. Now I moved to another place, and I am on AT&T fiber, with the wireless router they provide.

Of course the original HP manager software doesn't work for long time as Flash is disabled. Print and Scan doctor is usable to a point when it says to connect printer via USB. It then detects the connection but gets stuck forever at that point.

- The mini-display doesn't show much for WiFi, but it enabled  printing the network test/status page. It shows no IP address.

- I also used WPS option. The router has WPS button. Both eventually show error. Printing the network test report now shows the right network, but says I need to re-enter the WPA security passphrase. There's no place to do this, though.

- I also tried WPS with pin. I went into the WiFi router set-up page in browser, and it does have some WPS PIN option, so I entered the pin there. It says "Enter the Wi-Fi Client's all digit PIN, Submit, then follow the Wi-Fi client instructions." Of course, there are no instructions anywhere. The WPS sync still failed. Tried several times, in different order, with and w/out pressing WPS button, etc. No luck.

I can connect via USB just fine. The problem is that I don't have enough USB ports and the computer is far from printer, and I want to enable another laptop to print.

How can I get this connected?

Hi @Evgenus,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Photosmart C4750 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist you better:

  • Is the blue Wi-Fi light solid on the printer? ( if the Wi-Fi Light is blinking then please re-connect the printer back to your Wi-Fi router - Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer, Once you restore the network to defaults, then please follow the instructions on this link to connect the printer back to your PC.)
  • How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document: HP printers - Change from a USB to a Wi-Fi connection

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

20221127_printer_report.jpgThank you for your response, Andy.

- The WiFi light is solid. It only was blinking during the attempts to connect..  I've done the reset previously and the attempts to reconnect, using similar instructions on HP websites. That's how I got to the point of network found, but security failing. I attach the network report from the printer here.

- It is 2-3 ft away from the router, which is indeed a dual band router. That wasn't an issue with my previous router, where using WPS method worked just fine. But I think the names of those networks were different indeed. So this is what I will try now - name one of them differently.

Also any recommendations on the security settings? My current setting in the router is WPA-2

@Rainbow23 - While I appreciate the effort to help, please refrain from cookie-cutter responses, especially if you didn't read the details. All that you recommend has already been tried. On top of that, the wireless link you provide does not work.

Please stop pointing me to the same pages of how to connect. I tried that many times. And by the way, those links are bad. https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01705962.pdf leads to "page not found", which is even more annoying.
