I have uninstalled several instances of my printer and reinstalled with HP. I have been working on this for about a week. Last time the computer was connected with the printer was 6/24/2024. This printer is dated from 2015 according to the web. Please help! Just flat out tell me if I just need to get a new printer. I feel like I've tried everything possible.

Hi @Morn86,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already your HP ENVY 4500 E-All-In-One Printer let's try a few more steps to see if we can get your printer connected to the server.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Verify that your internet connection is working properly by checking other devices.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
- Wait for a couple of minutes, then turn on your router first. Wait until it is fully operational, then turn on your printer and computer.
Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates resolve connectivity issues.
- If you can access the printer’s control panel, navigate to the "Settings" menu and look for firmware update options.
Proxy Settings:
- Since you mentioned that the Automatic Proxy Setup is set to Automatically Detect Settings, ensure there are no manual proxy settings configured that might be interfering with the connection.
HP Smart App:
- Use the HP Smart app to connect your printer. Sometimes, this app can manage connections more effectively.
- Download the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device, and follow the prompts to add your printer.
Factory Reset:
- Perform a factory reset on your printer. This can sometimes clear out any settings that are causing issues.
- To do this, navigate to "Settings" -> "Printer Maintenance" -> "Restore" -> "Restore Factory Defaults."
