Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'll start off by explaining that this printer was purchased new back in 2013 or 2014 and has never even been plugged in let alone turned on or connected to a network.  Which I feel is maybe part of my issue since I can't update firmware without an internet connection but I have no idea.  I've installed multiple printers from several different brands and never had this many problems

After spending SEVERAL days trying to figure out why this printer simply will NOT connect to a WPS protected WiFi (it does however connect to an unprotected network) and YES I'm putting in the correct WiFi password (even though the printer gives "Invalid Passphrase" error).  I still can not connect to web services to update... pics from ews:

Clicking Retry does nothing.  It simply just doesn't want to connect to the internet.  I've read probably every forum post and tried every solution but nothing works.  I take that back, I haven't tried setting up a proxy because I'm not too sure how to do that.

I've also tried this:

but this is what is shown for me, "Not applicable":

Please help, I do not have the money to purchase another printer and I'd really like to have the full functionality of this printer that I have already paid for.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What's the Wi-Fi light status on the Printer(Blinking or Steady)?

Firstly, let's prepare your printer for a wireless connection, and restart the printer, computer, and router.

  • Turn the printer off, and then wait 10 seconds.
  • Disconnect the printer power cord from the printer.
  • Turn off the computer or the device you are trying to print from.
  • Connect the printer power cord to the printer, and then turn on the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from your wireless router, and then wait 10 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the router. Wait until Internet service is restored. Internet service is interrupted while the router is off.
  • Turn on the computer and try connecting to the web services.

Also, set a static IP address:

  • Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
  • Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
  • Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
  • On this screen, you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP
  • range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
  • Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different if so, use that)
  • Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
  • Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
  • Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start the printer.
Once it's done 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

And, just so you are aware... My problem isn't connecting to my printer (even though that's what the instructions you have given me sound like) I am  UNABLE to connect to WEB SERVICES.  I've read MANY OF MANY forum posts over the course of the past week (probably longer even) and I've seen and tried your "solution" even though it didn't work for the ones you tried helping before.  Is Web Services not supported on my printer???  I read that on the HP site but my printer is not in the list.

JohnDoh337_4-1652248185387.png

I really hope that isn't the case, if it is maybe I can get a job at HP and help people instead of copy/paste solutions for problems that people don't have

There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for me to have to use a proxy to connect my standalone printer to my WiFi network and have the printer use its built-in capabilities to update its own firmware.  Which I think is the problem I have being unable to connect to a protected WiFi network, as read here on the HP site https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05240288

I am not the only person you've tried to help with this problem, I'm sure there are MANY but here is one for example: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Wireless-Networking-Internet/Wifi-password-no-match/td-p/83703...

Now, if you care to assist me further then I can provide any information that you think will be helpful.  If not then oh well, I really wasn't expecting much from this hail mary post.
