HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm having various issues with my printer, HP Smart won't scan, HP easy start won't find my printer (even when I type in the IP address) among other issues so I want to factory reset the printer.  Now it appears I have many features locked on the touch panel of the printer including the "restore" button.  How do I perform a factory reset when I cannot access the restore button in the printer maintenance section of the printer settings?

@dshane,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the Restore option on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 is locked (likely due to an HP+ activation or previous enrollment in HP Instant Ink), you can try a semi-full reset using a hidden service menu. Follow these steps.

Accessing the Semi-Full Reset

  1. Turn off the printer completely.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait for about 30 seconds.
  4. Press and hold the Back button (↩) and Help button (?) at the same time.
  5. While holding these buttons, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  6. Keep holding the buttons until the Support Menu appears.
  7. Use the arrow keys to navigate to "Reset" > "Semi-Full Reset" and select it.
  8. The printer will restart and return to factory defaults.

Reset via Support Mode (Alternative)

If the above method does not work:

  1. On the Home Screen, tap the Back button (↩) four times in a row to open the Support Menu.
  2. Look for Reset Menu.
  3. Select Semi-Full Reset or Full Reset.
  4. The printer will restart automatically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
