Hi @DS21q,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 7001 is stuck in setup mode, with the Wi-Fi button blinking and the printer not appearing in the HP Smart app. Let’s go through the steps to fix this.

1. Power Cycle the Printer

Turn off the printer.

Unplug it from the wall outlet for 60 seconds.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.

Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check if the Wi-Fi button stops blinking.

2. Cancel Setup Mode

On the printer control panel, look for a Cancel or Stop button (sometimes a “X” or “Back” icon).

Press and hold it for a few seconds to exit setup mode.

If your printer doesn’t have this option, the power cycle above usually resets the setup mode.

3. Reset Network Settings

Press the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5–10 seconds (refer to your printer manual for exact combination).

The Wi-Fi light should blink faster or change pattern, indicating network reset.

After this, try reconnecting to Wi-Fi using the HP Smart app.

4. Use HP Smart App for Wireless Setup

Make sure your phone/tablet/PC is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to join.

Open HP Smart → Add Printer.

If the printer still doesn’t appear, try connecting via USB temporarily, which often allows the app to detect the printer and set up Wi-Fi.

5. Check Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The printer may not be visible if:

Wi-Fi is disabled on your device.

Your network uses a 5 GHz band only (some HP printers prefer 2.4 GHz).

Interference from other devices is present.

6. Factory Reset (if all else fails)

Warning: This erases all network settings and customizations.

Press the Setup button → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.

After reset, the printer will exit setup mode, and you can start fresh with Wi-Fi setup.

I hope this helps.
