HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw

I used to be able to print from phone, but now can't. I've tried and checked everything! Would like to talk to someone but only option seems to be virtual assistant.

Hi @ljo58,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw can no longer print from your phone, here are steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure the printer is still connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can check this via the printer's control panel.
  • IP Address: Confirm the printer has an active IP address by printing a network configuration page. If not, reconnect it to your network.

2. Phone and App

  • Restart Your Phone: Turn off your phone and restart it to refresh network connections.
  • App Update: Ensure you're using the latest version of the HP Smart app or any other app you use to print.
  • Clear Cache: Clear the app's cache and data (found in your phone's settings).

3. Reinstall the Printer on the App

  • Open the HP Smart app and remove the printer.
  • Re-add the printer by searching for it on your Wi-Fi network.

4. AirPrint or Mopria (Direct Printing)

  • If you're using AirPrint (iPhone) or Mopria (Android), ensure both your phone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Test with a Different App: Use another app like Notes or Chrome to see if the issue is app-specific.

5. Printer Restart

  • Power off the printer, unplug it for 1 minute, and then turn it back on.

6. Firmware Updates

  • Update your printer’s firmware. Use the HP Smart app or download updates from HP's support site.

7. Check for Router Issues

  • Restart your Wi-Fi router.
  • Ensure there are no firewall settings blocking the phone or printer.

8. Use Wi-Fi Direct

  • If Wi-Fi network printing fails, use Wi-Fi Direct:
    • Enable Wi-Fi Direct on your printer (via the control panel).
    • Connect your phone directly to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network.
    • Print as usual.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you. Have done all of the tips and it now prints sometimes, but not all the time. The IP address is correct, but it still says printer not ready
