Hi, I have an HP Photosmart C4380 / 4390 All-in-One Printer bought in 2008.
As Flash Player is permanently disabled since the 12-Jan-2021, I use HP Scan Extended installed since january 2021 for scanning documents in Wifi or with cable.
OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Taskbar
- Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Send to Desktop (Create a Shortcut)
- Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Start
Now Wifi connection doesn't operate (but work with USB cable only). I would try to uninstall and reinstall the software but I lost the cd-rom supplied with the printer. Also, through HP Support, I don't find the full version of drivers and software to download corresponding to my operating system windows 8.1 (64 bits).
Do you think I must now upgrade to windows 10 without risks for the good functioning of my computer ?
What could I do ?
Thanks you for your help

@Olivier6, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
This model printer is not compatible with the HP Smart app due to its age and there is no driver available on the HP Support site.
Install the printer using Windows built-in driver for printing. (Skip if you are able to print)
Refer to this document to know how. Try printing. Use Deskjet 990c driver if your printer is not listed.
Refer to this document HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) for help.
Note: No software is available for scanning. You may use MS paint.
Use a compatible scanning app to scan.
HP Scan and Capture app: Use this free app available from the Microsoft Store to scan photos or documents.
Go to Installing and Using HP Scan and Capture (Windows 10) for more information.
Windows Scan app: Use this Windows app to scan from most HP all-in-one printers.
Search Windows for Scan, and then click the Scan app in the list of results.
Windows Fax and Scan: Use this pre-installed tool to scan photos and documents.
Search Windows for fax, click Windows Fax and Scan in the list of results, and then click New Scan.
If this does not help, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
