Hi,

I cannot seem to scan to my computer anymore. My laptop doesn't show in the list of options to choose from.  The error says I should specify my laptop in the HP Printer Assistant but I cannot initiate the Printer Assistant. I tried uninstalling/re-installing several times and I can't get past the  "Wireless - Make a wireless connection to the Printer".  I can select my printer on the next step and then it tries to install and I get the "installing network printer" progress bar for a couple of minutes and then it errors out. "The printer was unable to be installed over the network." I can print no problem and the printer is recognized on the network and I don't see why I can't install the software. I would need to install the Printer Assistant so that I can specify my laptop as the destination of the scan. This was there before but disappeared when I had to uninstall and re-install the software.

This has worked forever and just started failing. Nothing has changed. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

@robvenab, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to scan to the computer.

For scan to computer feature to work, you should have a full-feature printer driver installed on the computer

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the software, go to Scan > Scan to computer > Manage > Enable

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I've tried a number of times to install that software. I keep getting the error below. Not sure why. I can send print jobs to my printer no problem. The wireless setting on my printer is showing that I am connected to the right network. I don't know why I keep getting this error message. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing many times but get the same error.

Thanks
