HP ENVY Pro 6422 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have my physical HP printer (HP Envy pro 6422)  listed in the Windows printers and scanners, but not 'HP Smart Printer' as it used to be. I can also see the printer in the HP Smart Printer app, but it only allows me to printed PDF documents.

In the past I had 'HP Smart Printer' listed in Windows printers, and I could select HP Smart Printer from within MS Word (etc.) and when I clicked print it would open the HP Smart Printing app and my printing worked.

Now, with only the physical Envy pro 6422  listed in Windows/MS Word, it prints the first document that I send, but then it blocks and doesn't let me print any further documents.

Welcome to the HP Community --

On supported printers --

HP Smart Printing would normally be installed -- and remain installed -- with the HP Smart application.

OK - gone is gone --

You can try uninstalling / reinstalling the HP Smart application.

Settings > Apps > Installed apps

Search / Find  HP Smart

Open the menu (three dots)  > Uninstall

After the app is uninstalled > Restart the computer and log in.

Get / Install a new copy of the latest HP Smart app from the  Microsoft Store

HP Smart - Current version as of this writing:

160.1.1192.0

Reminders

Check / Update >> Every device (computer(s) and mobile) where HP Smart is installed should be running the latest version of the HP Smart application available for that device platform (Operating System / Version).

AND

The printer and device (computer, tablet, phone) where HP Smart is running should be on the same network.

What else?

Essentially the same driver as HP Smart Printing --

Supported by your printer model and Operating System / version

Try / Consider -

Install and use the HP Smart Universal Print Driver

=================================

HP Smart Universal Print Driver

The HP Smart UPD is similar - nearly a match - to the HP Smart Printing Driver installed with HP Smart app on select printers.
