Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 11

I have had my 2700 deskjet printer hooked up to my router before. Had to change the router password and now cannot connect the printer. HP Smart app says the Network to WPA Enterprise has WPA3 enabled and this printer doesn't support connecting to this network.

Printed the WiFi direct instructions but says to select the Wifi direct name for the printer from the list of available wireless networks Where do I find this?

Any advice appreciated.

@Robert711, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

HP DeskJet 2700 series printer does not support WPA3 or WPA Enterprise networks, which is why it's unable to connect after your router password change. Here's how you can resolve this and get your printer back online:

Option 1: Reconnect to a Compatible Wi-Fi Network (WPA2 Personal)

If your router allows it, switch the Wi-Fi security mode to WPA2-Personal (AES). This is the most compatible mode for HP consumer printers.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your router’s admin page (usually via 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in a browser).
  2. Go to Wireless Settings > Security Mode.
  3. Change it from WPA3 or WPA Enterprise to WPA2-Personal (AES).
  4. Save and restart your router.
  5. Use the HP Smart app to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi:
    • Open HP Smart.
    • Tap + Add Printer or go to Printer Settings > Network Setup.
    • Follow the prompts to connect to your updated Wi-Fi.

Option 2: Use Wi-Fi Direct (No Router Needed)

Wi-Fi Direct lets you print wirelessly without connecting to a router.

Steps to Use Wi-Fi Direct:

Print the Wi-Fi Direct Info Page:

  • Press the Information button (i) on the printer control panel.
  • Look for the Wi-Fi Direct name and password on the printed page.

Connect Your Device to Wi-Fi Direct:

  • On your phone or PC, go to Wi-Fi settings.
  • Look for a network like DIRECT-xx-HP DeskJet 2700.
  • Select it and enter the password from the info page.

Open the HP Smart app or your document and print as usual.

Additional Tips:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date via HP Smart.
  • If you changed your router’s SSID (network name), you may need to reset the printer’s network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds until the wireless light blinks.
