This problem started a year or so ago, and still happens. I do most of my printing wirelessly from my iPad. {BTW, this problem doesn't appear to be happening on my iMac, I think!.
The printer seems to works great when printing single pages only. But when I try to print double-sided documents, I hear the printer running but I get the following message at the same time ??
- I see nothing wrong when I "Check the printer for errors" ??
- And as long as I do not select "Continue" or "Cancel Print Job" it simply prints all the double-sided pages of my documents to successful completion. Easy peasy?!
- But if I do select "Continue", it attempts to print 2 double-sided copies of my documents. But the resulting printout is a mess of partially printed pages, and pages out of order. And sometimes it will also give me this next message below, despite indications that the printer is still connected to the Internet and WiFi ??
- If I "Try again" there does not seem to be any response of any kind ??
I further explored if this glitch might be unique to printing via AirPrint vs HP Smart. But I've learned nothing from that exercise. I'm unable to discern which apps on mu iPad use AirPrint's drivers, which use HP Smart's, and which might be using their own ?? What's happening "behind the scenes" that might provide valuable clues, is a minefield of confusion to casual users like me trying to self-diagnose printing problems.
Please advise what might possibly be going on with this HP wireless printer glitch.

Hi @Phlurim45
Welcome to the HP support community.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP ENVY 6055e when printing double-sided documents from your iPad. Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the HP support website.
2. Check Printer Settings:
- Review the duplex printing settings in both the app you’re using on your iPad and the printer settings. Ensure that double-sided printing is enabled correctly.
3. Test Different Apps:
- Since you mentioned potential differences between AirPrint and HP Smart, try printing from different apps (like Notes, Photos, or Safari) to see if the issue is consistent across all of them.
4. Clear Print Queue:
- Sometimes, residual print jobs can cause issues. Clear any pending print jobs on your iPad:
- Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage > Find the app you used to print, and check for any pending tasks.
5. Print a Test Page:
- Print a test page directly from the printer’s menu to ensure the printer is functioning correctly. This can help identify if the problem is with the printer or the connection.
7. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Since the printer seems to be connected, check your Wi-Fi signal strength. If possible, bring the printer closer to the router to ensure a strong connection.
8. Reset Network Settings:
- Sometimes resetting network settings can help:
- On the printer, navigate to the network settings and choose the option to reset network settings.
9. Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart app on your iPad. This can resolve any issues with app permissions or configurations.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
