Hi - I have a HP LaserJet CM1415fnw. It is connected to my wireless network. As part of my trouble shooting I restored defaults and reconnected. No problem there I think. On my computer I ran an HP Diagnostic, removed the old device and reinstalled. The last step of the reinstall was to print a test page but that is where I got the Device Connection Failure. Even on this page I was able to add a product to my profile through having it detected, The only thing I can think of is that my modem is something like 2.5G and maybe that is the issue. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi @Riobert
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are facing issues with your printer. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.
May I know from when are you facing this issue?
Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?
Could you tell me the router frequency?
Also, check the wireless radio and let me know.
Please run print and scan doctor and let me know the outcome of it: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-6980-printer-series/468002/model/3456250/document/c0...
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your response.
I have been facing this issue for a few months. It seems it started after a friend tried to print a document from her phone.
I reinstalled the relevant HP Software on my computer.
I also have gotten a new modem and router, but have been able to successfully connect the printer to the internet.
I believe the router frequency is 2.5G.
I do not know what you mean by wireless radio.
I ran the scan doctor and have this result (the test page did not print):
Thanks!
Bob

Thanks for your response.
I would suggest you make a copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works fine. That will help us know if the hardware is working fine.
Please note that this printer model only supports a 2.4GHz network and hence your modem/router is not an issue as it is compatible.
Could you please print a configuration page to check if the printer is connected to the right network? Here is a link that will help: https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c02205437
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

In that case, I would suggest you perform a reset and then try connecting it.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I had done a reset (which then meant I had to reconnect to my wireless which I was able to do).
Right now my configuration report shows a Wireless HW address and the Network in Use is Wireless.
I see a Host Name, IPv4 and IPv6 Address.

In that case, perform the steps below and let me know the outcome of it:
Set a manual IP- To set a manual IP and try the steps below -
--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP
--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply
--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply
--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min
Connect the printer to TCP/IP port
--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
a. Click Start/Devices and Printers. Right-click on your HP Printer. Select Printer Properties. Select the Ports tab at the top. b. Select Add Port. Select Standard TCP/IP Port. Select New Port.
c. Follow the Add Port Wizard. Under Printer Name or IP Address, . Example: 192.168.1.15. The IP address will be copied under Port Name.
d. Select Next and Finish the Wizard.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The IP address you shared is Invalid or Temproraly IP. You have to set up your printer back to wireless.
Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on the printer
• Prepare a printer for a Wi-Fi connection by restoring the Wi-Fi setup mode.
• When the settings are restored, the printer enters Wi-Fi setup mode for about two hours, making it discoverable during the HP software installation.
• Most printers with a touchscreen: From the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
• Most inkjet printers without a touchscreen: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power button flashes, and then wait for the Wireless light to flash. Once you restore the network to defaults, then please follow the instructions on this link to connect the printer back to your PC.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
