I have a new 2800 Series HP printer and was having connectivity problems, my computer said the printer was off line. I went online to what looked to what looked an official HP tech support and chatted with them. They had a "tech" call me. After he ran a few test on my computer, he stated that my network was not secure despite the fact I use Norton 360. He stated this was the reason I could not get my printer on line and he immediately tied to sell me a $600 "firewall" package. As soon as I accused him of trying to scam me, he could not get off line fast enough. It turns out, after working on the problem myself, I had a paper jam. As soon as I unjammed the paper and turned the print off and back on ,it went on line and printed fine. During this session, I was give an encounter number HP938213MC. I am use MacOS Sequoia 15.5. I am not sure if this was an official HP tech site or scam site, I just thought HP should know.

@davistjr, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "support" or chat you encountered was not HP. It was definitely a scam website. HP does not sell firewall packages, so your presence of mind in recognizing something was off is commendable!
Even though you use Norton 360, it’s a good idea to:
- Run a full system scan
- Check for any remote access software that may have been installed (like TeamViewer, AnyDesk, etc.)
- Change your passwords, especially if you shared any during the session
Always go directly to https://support.hp.com (Official HP® Support) or search for “HP Support” and verify the URL ends in hp.com.
Please feel free to reach out to us for any queries or assistance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
