To connect your HP DeskJet 2800 series printer to WiFi using your mobile device, follow these steps:
Using the HP Smart App on an Android or iOS Device
Requirements:
- A mobile device connected to the same WiFi network you want to connect the printer to.
- The HP Smart app installed on the mobile device. You can download it from 123.hp.com or your device’s app store.
Steps:
Prepare the Printer:
- Turn on the printer.
- Make sure the printer is within the WiFi range of the router.
- Ensure paper is loaded in the input tray and ink cartridges are installed.
Enable Setup Mode on the Printer:
- Press and hold the Cancel
and Wireless
buttons simultaneously for three seconds, then release the buttons.
- The printer’s Power
button will blink, and the Wireless
button will blink continuously indicating that the setup mode is enabled.
Connect Using the HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- Tap the Plus
sign to add a new printer.
- Select Add Printer. A list of available printers will display.
- Choose your HP DeskJet 2800 series from the list, such as HP=Setup <XX_DeskJet 2800 series.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your WiFi network’s WEP or WPA key (network password).
Complete the Setup:
- The wireless light on the control panel will turn solid blue indicating the printer is successfully connected to the WiFi network.
- Skip any remaining prompts to complete the setup.

To connect an HP DeskJet 2700, 2700e, 4100, or 4100e printer to a wireless network using a computer or mobile device, follow these steps:
Using HP Smart App (Android or iOS Mobile Device)
Prepare for installation:
- Ensure your mobile device and printer are turned on.
- Connect your mobile device to the same wireless network that you want your printer to connect to.
Set up the printer:
- Load paper into the input tray and install the ink cartridges.
- Place the printer close to your router.
Enable Bluetooth on your Android or iOS device:
- On your Android device, ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
- On your iOS device, ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
Download and install the HP Smart app:
- Visit 123.hp.com and download the HP Smart app.
Put the printer in setup mode:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Cancel
and Wireless
buttons for three seconds, then release the buttons. The Power and Wireless buttons will start blinking, indicating setup mode is enabled.
Connect the printer to the wireless network:
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device.
- Tap the Plus
sign to add a printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
The wireless light on the printer will turn solid blue once it successfully connects to the wireless network.
